TOSL 2nd Bday Hunt & The Return of FLF!

I have so much exciting news for you!

First of all, today is the first day of the Taste of Second Life 2nd Birthday Hunt! I told you a bit about it yesterday, and I have more info for you today! Your hunt starts here, and you’re looking for this hunt item:

OK, so the next thing I want to tell you about is the return of Fifty Linden Fridays! Every Friday, a group of creators will put out one item priced at 50L. These are some FABULOUS and well-known stores, and an absolutely amazing deal. There are some mixed reactions to the return of this event, but I have to say I could not be happier. While some people view it as a devaluing of quality items in Second Life, I feel like it is a great way for newcomers or people who tend to spend less in SL to get a little taste of some very high quality items. Back in the day, FLF is part of what got me to actually start shopping more because I would go to a store to grab the 50L item and see about 20 other things I wanted. So, kudos to OMGWTF Barbecue for bringing this back. I am really excited!

Taste of Second Life 2nd Birthday Hunt!

Have you ever heard of Taste of Second Life? It’s a weekly event where a group of designers put an item out at their store for half price for one weekend. These are some really awesome designers and the deals are fantastic- no item is priced over 250L! Please take a moment to check out the TOSL Blog or visit the TOSL center and learn a bit more.

Ok, all read up? Now- TOSL is almost two years old. This means a BIRTHDAY PARTYYY!! YAY! This year, like last, they are having a hunt to celebrate. You can see the list of participating designers here. As you may have noticed, there are some pretty awesome stores! The hunt is running from June 15 through July 15. That means you and all of your friends and relatives and acquaintances and enemies and … everyone you’ve ever bumped into at a safe hub have plenty of time to hunt and pick up every single high quality item! Wanna see a couple of things you may find during your travels?

Now, this dress from Sleeping Koala isn’t my usual style, but the mesh fits SO WELL. Paired with this cute little scarf from Izzie’s, it’s a fun look. I feel like I should be in the country somewhere. Where are my cowboy boots? Oh, well. Bare feet in the country never hurt anyone, right? Sn@tch at CHIC²

Hey guys! Look at this fun bathing suit I grabbed from Sn@tch at CHIC²! I am a big fan of the vintage look, and the prim bows just take it to a whole new level of cute! There are a bunch of fab colors available. This great hair from The Alice Project went just right with the look! Her styles are so different than other designers, and really well done.

I played around with dodge and burn for the first time on this photo. I found a tutorial here on how to use dodge and burn without damaging the original photo. I’m definitely not a master at this technique by any means, but it’s fun to see the additional depth that can be added. I will keep playing around with it and hopefully getting better!

New e! Releases

Hey y’all (read in Paula Deen voice)! Eclectic Apparel has come out with some cute new releases that I’d like to share with you!

Here’s a  nice, casual look for today. I have seen this ISON cardigan around a bunch of times, and a few of my friends own it. I kept telling myself to go buy it, then I’d forget again. BUT I finally FINALLY remembered, and it was definitely worth the wait. It fits and moves perfectly and just looks sooooo cozy and classy. Now if only I could get it out of SL and into mr RL closet… hmmmm…

This town.

I have a few things to tell you about. First, Lamb Bellic has done it again with some fantastic new releases. There are four new mesh styles in all. All are ponytails. Two have bangs, two don’t. Two drape over the shoulder, two go down the back. I’ll let you think about that for a second, then RUN to !lamb and demo them! After I bought my new favorite hair, I walked across to Tres Blah and grabbed this Kimono. I actually went on a little shopping spree, but I’ll show you the rest of what I got a different time!

OK, so the second thing is, I love Tableau. Have you been? It is this super quirky, well done sim with a ton of great stores. Like, really, it’s the who’s who of quirky adorable style: Nylon Outfitters, Fashionably Dead, Lamb, Clawtooth by Clawtooth, Yummy, Wrigglesworths, Paper Couture, Cheeky Pea, Turnip, Tres Blah, Surf Co., Kari, Trompe Loeil, Cheap Makeup, Willow & PDA Poses. Besides that, it’s just a great place to walk around and check out. It’s like a desert town. There are so many pretty, funny, cool, and interesting things to look at. There are even dinosaurs. Seriously, go check it out.
