Culture Shock 2012 & Summer Beauty Festival

Hey guys! I am SO EXCITED to tell you about some big events going on right now in SL!

First is Culture Shock. It’s this great event celebrating the different cultures of SL residents and creators through fashion, art and music. The sim opened to bloggers, and let me tell you- it is really cool. All sorts of amazing vendors with exclusive items! I think the best part is that 50-100% of every vendor’s profits will be going to Médecins Sans Frontières, so not only do you get to shop for some great stuff but you’re also helping out a great cause!

Culture Shock will be open from May 4- 26. In the photo credits, I’ll asterisk (*) each item that you can find at CS!

Also happening now is the Summer Beauty Festival, which features some great cosmetic items! The festival opened May 1st and will be open till the 25th. I will note the SBF items in the credits with a double asterisk (**).

A Good Kind of Blah

I have been on a Tres Blah kick lately, maybe you’ve noticed? I honestly think that I will eventually own every item int that store. I’m trying to pace myself. Today, I’ve mixed and matched some stuff. This is a tank I’ve shown you before (here), paired with the skirt part of a dress I’ve also shown you before (here).

This skin *dies* is the newest release from Glam Affair, available here. This is the first time I have ever fat packed a skin, but seriously… every single version is beautiful and amazing and I could not choose. I honestly loved (and still love) Leah, but Giselle just blows me away.

Sailors Take Warning

The new collection is out at The Dressing Room Blue! This dress immediately caught my attention. It is absolutely lovely. The only thing I was disappointed about was that I normally wear an XS in standard sizing, but there was no XS option in the pack. I modded my shape to a size S and the dress fit just fine, though. It was definitely worth the little bit of extra effort to wear this great dress. Also, I recently bought this new Magika hair. If you haven’t tried Magika yet, I honestly don’t know what you are waiting for. It is so well done, there are such cute styles… just… go. Go check it out.

Tune!!

You know that one song? The one that makes you wanna just crawl inside the speakers and become part of it somehow? I have a lot of those songs in my life. I find new ones all of the time, when I go to my favorite clubs in SL and have the privilege of benefiting from the fabulous musical taste of awesome DJs.

This town.

I have a few things to tell you about. First, Lamb Bellic has done it again with some fantastic new releases. There are four new mesh styles in all. All are ponytails. Two have bangs, two don’t. Two drape over the shoulder, two go down the back. I’ll let you think about that for a second, then RUN to !lamb and demo them! After I bought my new favorite hair, I walked across to Tres Blah and grabbed this Kimono. I actually went on a little shopping spree, but I’ll show you the rest of what I got a different time!

OK, so the second thing is, I love Tableau. Have you been? It is this super quirky, well done sim with a ton of great stores. Like, really, it’s the who’s who of quirky adorable style: Nylon Outfitters, Fashionably Dead, Lamb, Clawtooth by Clawtooth, Yummy, Wrigglesworths, Paper Couture, Cheeky Pea, Turnip, Tres Blah, Surf Co., Kari, Trompe Loeil, Cheap Makeup, Willow & PDA Poses. Besides that, it’s just a great place to walk around and check out. It’s like a desert town. There are so many pretty, funny, cool, and interesting things to look at. There are even dinosaurs. Seriously, go check it out.

Issues!

Hey guys! This is a pretty simple post today because I’ve been having odd buggy issues with my graphics for the last 2 days. For some reason, when shadows are enabled, parts of my hair go missing. It is so weird. Also, on my high-res snapshots, the shadows are all messed up. Here is a look at some photos I took, one with mesh hair, one with non-mesh hair. You can see where the hair is disappearing in some spots and the shadows are completely missing in sections of the snapshots.

So, after 2 days of this nonsense, I downloaded Exodus viewer because I heard it is great for photos. The same thing happened. I reached out to my Plurk friends, and someone suggested I do a full wipe and complete reinstall of Firestorm. I did, but it still didn’t fix the problem. I am baffled. So, for now, I am tired and without shadows. I did take a few more non-buggy shots (sans shadows) of this new {mon tissu} dress, though:

It is seriously so cute. Super well done, and the textures are amazing.

So, there ya have it. If anyone out there has any idea what the shadows issue is caused by, or how to fix it I would LOVE to know! If/when I find a fix, I will definitely do a follow-up post.
